About
El Rinconcillo opened its doors on Calle Gerona in 1670, under the reign of Charles II, and is generally regarded as the oldest continuously operating tapas bar in Spain. The De Rueda family has run it since 1858, and little about the L-shaped room has changed: antique lamps, Andalusian tiled walls, wooden wine racks, and a mahogany bar where staff still chalk up tabs by hand. Regulars order classics like espinacas con garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas) alongside sherry or vermouth, standing at the counter as customers have for generations.
